Obituary

Janice Elaine (Briggs, Andrews) Zimmerman 85, of Wolfeboro, NH, passed away quietly at home with her husband Howard by her side on August 14, 2023 of heart failure.

Janice was born on December 7,1937 to parents Russell and Alice Briggs in Lynn, MA.  She attended Swampscott high school.

In 1958 she married Bruce C Andrews.  They had three sons: Therrol Andrews, Dana Andrews, Bruce Andrews Jr. The marriage lasted 20 years.

Janice was a good-hearted woman who spent sixty-five years providing loving support to her family.  As a homemaker she was always up early and busy throughout the day. She prided herself, in later years, by saying she never took naps. Her children will remember her driving them on early morning paper routes and to weekend ski races across New England. She would even help them prepare by hot waxing their skis. In hardship she persevered as a single mom with a mortgage and three teenage sons by taking a job as a waitress and bartender at Michael's House restaurant.  The very place she would one day meet Howard Zimmerman.

Howard and Janice were married the day after Thanksgiving in 1984. They spent fourty years creating wonderful memories: vacations in Europe, summers on the water in Marblehead and a lot of time at Sugarloaf, her second home. Skiing was an activity that Janice and Howard really enjoyed.

Janice will be remembered for a sharp memory and a good sense of humor - she shared her great laugh!  She had a keen eye for detail with a wonderful taste in style and design.  Whether it was in the way she wore her hair, the clothes she chose, the way she decorated the home or in the dinners she prepared, there was always a sense of elegance coupled with a warm and welcoming touch. She also enjoyed flower gardening, birds, and cooking. Not only did she stop and smell the roses; her passion for the garden was a labor of love. She planted a four-season garden and had food, suet and nectar available for each season. Her knowledge of each plant, bird, butterfly and bee was on display at our Turkey Hill Road home and at Sugar Hill.

Janice lived with a failing heart valve that was inoperable.  However, on the day of her passing she had her hair done and went out with her traditional trace of blonde!  Later that evening she did not feel well. She said to Howard, "This is it!" She laid down on the bed and she was gone.  Janice showed remarkable strength and devotion to the end.  She was a wonderful woman who will be dearly missed.

Janice is survived by her husband Howard Zimmerman; her children and spouses, Therrol and Jodi Andrews, Dana and Lisa Andrews, Bruce and Kim Andrews, Nancy Wood, Douglas and Eileen Zimmerman; her grandchildren and their spouses, Jeremy Andrews, Hannah Andrews, Colin Andrews, Sarah Andrews, Haley Andrews, Sam Andrews, Madison and Henry Clarke, Sydney and FJ Murphy, Payton Andrews,  Devon Wood, Colby Wood, Pierce Wood, Sam Zimmerman, Lauren Zimmerman; and great grandchild Magnolia (Noli) Murphy.
