Janet T. (Gagne) (Phillips) Gagnon, age 86, wife of the late Lionel Gagnon, a longtime resident of Salem, more recently of Danvers, died at the Rosewood Nursing Home, Peabody, early Thursday morning, October 24, 2013 following a long battle with lung disease.

Born in Somersworth, NH , the daughter of the late Archie and Yvonne (Fecteau) Gagne, she attended local schools . During her high school years, her family moved to Salem and she graduated from Salem High School in the class of 1943. Following her graduation, Mrs. Gagnon was employed by Sylvania Lighting on Loring Ave in Salem and had retired from the City of Salem School Department in 1989, as the Head Cook for the Saltonstall School.

In her retirement, Mrs. Gagnon enjoyed being in Largo, FL until becoming ill.

Mrs. Gagnon is survived by two sons, Salem Firefighter Paul Phillips of Danvers and John
Phillips and his wife Margaret of Lynn; a brother Armand Gagne and his wife Claire of Peabody, three grandchildren, Nicole, Bailey and Zachary and many nieces and nephews, including a special niece, Ellen Ippoliti.

She was predeceased by a son Bruce Phillips and a daughter Ann Armstrong Bouchard; and three brothers, Joseph, Maurice and Laurent Gagne.

Her funeral will be held on Tuesday, October 29, 2013, at 9:45AM from the Murphy Funeral Home, 85 Federal St, Salem, to be followed by a funeral Mass at 10:30 A.M in St. Mary's the Annunciation Church, 24 Conant St., Danvers, MA 01923. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Salem. Visiting hours will be in the funeral home on Monday from 4:00 PM from PM to 8:00 PM.
