DANVERS- Janet M. O'Connor (Anastasia), 93, passed away with her family by her side on Monday March 1, 2021 at Putnam Farm Assisted Living in Danvers. Born in Milton, she was the daughter of the late Marion (Shields) and Charles Anastasia. Growing up, Jan had 5 other siblings Eloise, Margueriti (Harrington), Phillip, Marjorie (O'Reilly), and Joseph. She went to local schools before going to Boston School of Art.
Later on, she met the love of her life John J. O'Connor as they got married in Winthrop on August 28, 1954. They moved frequently around the country due to John's career in the FBI and eventually settled in Marblehead and raised their 5 children. During those years, Jan enjoyed spending her time bridal consulting and decorating. She was known for hosting family parties and events for everyone. One of her biggest joys was spending time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She always kept them close to her with the countless photos and memories hanging on her wall. She will be dearly missed and held close in the hearts of all who knew her.
Jan is survived by: her children Marjorie Nelson and her spouse Scott of Estero, FL, Donna Romeo and her spouse Bob of Middleton, MA, John O'Connor and his spouse Tina of Alameda, CA, Joseph O'Connor of Beverly, MA, and Catherine O'Connor of Marblehead, MA; her grandchildren Angel Bond and Brian Lacky of Nashville, TN, Marissa Bond and Brandon Conthron of Nashville, TN, Heather Cooper of Knoxville, TN, Christina and Jeff Piantidosi of North Andover, MA, Danielle Romeo of Boston, MA, Madison O'Connor of Alameda, CA, Macayla and Faith Brock of Marblehead, and Scottie Nelson of Estero, FL; and her great grandchildren Nora Bond and Carolina Cothron of Nashville, TN, Jacob, Juliana and Joanna Piantidosi of North Andover, MA; Peter O'Reilly and Trudy Hamilton; and many nieces and nephews.
Jan is predeceased by her late husband John J. O'Connor (2000) and her siblings Margueriti Harrington, Eloise Anastasia, Phillip Anastasia, Marjorie O'Reilly, and Joseph Anastasia.
Visiting hours will take place on Thursday March 4, 2021 from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Murphy Funeral Home, located at 85 Federal St. Salem. A graveside service will be held on Friday March 5, 2021 beginning at 11:00 AM at Star of the Sea Cemetery, located at 140 Lafayette St, Marblehead, MA 01945.
