IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Jane Ann
Whitmore
July 31, 1941 – June 26, 2025
Jane A. Whitmore, 83, of Salem, MA, passed away peacefully on June 26, 2025, at Kaplan Family Hospice, Danvers, MA.
Born in Lynn, MA on July 31, 1941, to Charles W. and Sylvia V. (Trojanowski) Whitmore. Jane graduated from Lynn English High School, class of 1959.
Upon graduating she worked at the Registry of Deeds in Salem, MA, for 40 years until her retirement. It was there that she met her dear friend, Sandy.
In retirement, Janie and Sandy enjoyed many wonderful trips together to Ireland, Italy, Hawaii, places in between on their drives to Marco Island, Florida, times spent on Cape Cod and the coast of Maine.
Jane always saw the good in people and made sure they knew it. Jane lived her life with gratitude and hope borne from her lifelong devotion to the Catholic faith. She embodied the principles of the faith by living each day with grace, humility, compassion and care for all those who were fortunate to know her. She inspired those around her to be kinder, less judgmental and more considerate to others.
Her love of music, especially jazz, was boundless and contagious. She was always searching for new artists and eager to share her favorites with friends and family.
Jane is survived by her longtime friend, Sandra Spilski, and her beautiful family that she was blessed with including her sister-in-law and friend, Jane M. Whitmore, many wonderful nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and great -great nieces. She also leaves many special friends and neighbors, that provided great support in these last months.
Jane truly made the world a better place and we are grateful for the joy she brought to all of us and comforted in knowing she has joined her loved ones in heaven including her brothers Robert (Janet), Leonard, sister Nancy (Anthony) and twin sister Judy.
We would like to thank the staff at Kaplan House, Dr. Anne Kathryn Goodman and Sara Bouberhan at MGH Oncology and the staff of Phillips 22 at MGH for their exceptional care in these last months.
Visiting hours for Jane will be held on Tuesday, July 1 at the Murphy Funeral Home, 85 Federal Street, Salem from 9-10:30 am followed by a Funeral Mass at Immaculate Conception Church.
