IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Jane E.
Walsh
August 19, 1943 – October 11, 2022
It is with great sadness that we share with you the passing of Jane E. (Carney) Walsh, age 79, who died on October 11, 2022. Jane was the daughter of the late Arthur E. Carney and Mary A. (Sweeney) Carney. She was predeceased by her husband, William H. Walsh and her younger brother, Lawrence A. Carney.
Jane was a graduate of St. James High School and Salem State College. She began her career as a first-grade teacher at the Kiley School in West Peabody and ended her professional career when she retired as the Head Reference Librarian at Salem Public Library.
Jane was a sweet, bright, creative, and talented woman. She was known affectionately by her family as "the Jane of all trades" and the "trivia queen." There was never a task left undone or a project too challenging for Jane to undertake.
Jane was a gentle spirit with a kind and generous heart. She was a ray of sunshine and always saw the good in everyone. Jane will be missed by all whose lives she touched. She is survived by her daughter, Amy E. Wood, her husband Marc and her beloved grandson, Christopher. She also leaves her sister, Mary M. Carney. Jane was a devoted mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, as well as a great sister.
Jane is also survived by several cousins, near and far and by her friends of many years. Happy times with them were shared and cherished.
Jane's family would like to extend their sincere appreciation to the Sawtelle Family Hospice House for their kind, compassionate and loving care of Jane. In honor of Jane's memory, please do as Jane always did... reach out to someone in need.
Keep smiling Jane, you are at peace.
