Jim Gallant (88) passed away on Wednesday December 27 th . Jim was born and raised in Salem, and grew up in the Gallows Hill area. Jim was a veteran serving with the United States Army during WWll. He was a lifetime and active member of the Salem AOH Division 18, he was also a diehard Red Sox fan.
If you are from Salem and didn't know Jim, chances are you probably have met him. He was a clerk/salesmen for Jerry's Army & Navy store for over 40 years, and he probably helped you pick out a pair of jeans. Jim will be greatly missed by his family and his many friends.
James leaves behind his sisters Mary Gallant, Frances Mariziti, and Sheila Sirios; and many nieces and nephews. James is predeceased by Ann Mudungo, Terrence Gallant, Irene Dacey, Ruth Morton, Leo Gallant, and Raymond Gallant.
ARRANGEMENTS: Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday January 2, 2018 at the Murphy Funeral Home, located on 85 Federal St Salem, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday January 3, 2018 at 10:00 AM at the Murphy Funeral Home. Interment will follow funeral service at St. Mary's Cemetery, 226 North St. Salem. In lieu of flowers, the family asks to make memorial contributions to Haven From Hunger, 71 Wallis St Peabody, in his memory.
