Salem….

Jacqueline E. (Thibault) Courtney, age 81, wife of the late Robert Courtney of Salem, died in Arundel, Maine, following a 2 month battle with cancer.

Born in Salem, the daughter of the late Maynard and Ida (Foranger) Thibault, she was educated in Salem Schools, graduating from Salem High School in the Class of 1949. Mrs. Courtney then became a professional window dresser for F.W. Woolworth Company, until marrying her late husband. Mrs. Courtney took great pride in being a stay at home mom taking care of her children and family. Later in life she loved being involved in her grandchildren's lives and activities. One of Mrs. Courtney's favorite hobbies was knitting, a hobby she taught her grandchildren, inspiring one grand daughter to join the University of New Hampshire Knitting Club.

Mrs. Courtney is survived by three children Debra Ann Smith of Rowley, Robert Courtney, Jr. and his wife Katy of Arundel, ME and Brian Courtney and his wife Isolette of Georgetown, MA; two brothers, Bertram Thiabult of Deland, FL and Maynard Thibault of Danvers; two sisters Delores Normand of SC and Claire Ryan of St. Petersburg, FL; seven grandchildren, Stacia and Lennon Smith, Erica and Briana Courtney, Ariel, Saffron and Indigo Courtney; and one great grandchild Penelope Alexander.



Her memorial Mass will be held on Saturday, February 18, 2012 at 10:00 AM in St. James Church, 161 Federal St., Salem. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend.
