It is with great sadness that the family of Mr. Herbert A. Mallard Sr. announce his passing on January 31, 2018 in Peabody, MA at the age of 76. After battling with long-term illness, he died peacefully in his home surrounded by his loving family.

Herb Mallard Sr. is survived by his sister Pearl, children Herb Jr., Deborah, Kim, and Scott, as well as many beloved grandchildren. He was predeceased by parents Arthur and Marie; siblings Tom, Bobby, Richard, and Edna; and the love of his life Cynthia.  His memory will also be cherished by his extended family.

After attending school up to the eighth grade, Herb Sr. spent his life as a man who worked with his hands as a carpenter, mechanic, locksmith, and all-around handyman. He was incredibly devoted to his late wife Cynthia. Herb's children and grandchildren will fondly remember him as an intuitive, affectionate, soft-spoken person with a deep sense of familial duty and no fear of an honest day's work. He was a brilliantly witty individual who loved the ocean, rescuing animals, and who was passionate about good conversation and a strong cup of coffee. He knew that life was about dedication, warm laughter, and an open heart; the sunshine of his unique humor and undeniable love will be dearly missed.

ARRANGEMENTS: Visiting hours will take place on Monday February 5, 2018 at the Murphy Funeral Home, located on 85 Federal St Salem, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Funeral services will be held the following day Tuesday February 6, 2018 at the Murphy Funeral Home beginning at 10:00 AM.
