Salem…

Henry C. White, Jr. age 77, husband of the late Jean M. (Fitzpatrick) White with whom he shared 40 years of marriage died Friday evening, February 18, 2011 in Exeter Hospital, Exeter, NH.
He was a longtime resident of Salem, MA more recently of Newfields, NH.

Born in Lynn the son of the late Henry C. White Sr. and the late Gladys M. (Comeau) White he was raised and educated in Lynn and Danvers. Once he completed his education, Henry joined the United States Air Force and was stationed at Ramey Air Force Base in Puerto Rico. He and his grandson, Eric had also returned to the Base at one time for a base reunion. He also served in the United States Army and for several years maintained his reserve duty status. Additionally he served in the United States Coast Guard Reserve. Henry was also a member of the Herman Spear VFW Post 331 in Beverly.


Following his discharge, Henry was briefly employed by the former Ideal Baby Shoe Company in Danvers until becoming employed by New England Telephone and Telegraph Co. (now Verizon). During his more than 25 year career, he was assigned to the Salem Central Office as both a lineman and engineer.


An avid power boater he was a member of both the Bass Haven Yacht Club and Palmer Cove Yacht Club, where he had served as Commodore. Henry also took great pride maintaining his boats and being on the water with his family and friends. He enjoyed travel of all types. One summer he took his family across country in the family station wagon. He also enjoyed trips to Mohegan Sun.
Above all else, his greatest joy in life was spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren.


Henry is survived by four children Marsha J. and her husband Kim Selecky of Salem, Henry C. White III and his wife Darlene of Salem, Kenneth J White and his wife Debra of Topsfield and Patricia L Vincent and her husband Peter of Newfields, NH; a sister Evelyn Sauliner and her husband Arthur of Danvers; 12 grandchildren Benjamin Selecky and his wife Krystina; Amy Venezia and her husband Anthony, Eric Selecky, Derek, Brandon, Ashley, Natasha, and Nathan White, Cassandra Pinkham, Benjamin Russell and his wife Jessica, Melissa Nystedt and her husband Carl and Serena Vincent; three great grandchildren Mia and Noah Selecky and Eleanor Russell.
He will also be missed by his African Grey Parrot Caesar.


In addition to his wife, he was predeceased by a brother Kenneth White and a grandson Matthew Selecky.


His funeral will be held on Friday, Feb 25, 2011 at 9:15 AM from the Murphy Funeral Home, 85 Federal St., (corner of North St) Salem to be followed by a funeral Mass at 10:00 AM in St Thomas the Apostle Church, 290 North St, Salem, MA 01970. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours will be Thursday from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Salem.
