Henry F. Keresey, age 78, husband of Elizabeth "Polly" (Clement) Keresey of Salem, died at home early Sunday morning following a brief illness. On October 22, he and his wife would have celebrated 56 years of marriage.
Born in Gardner, MA the son of the late Henry and Edna (Holm) Keresey, Sr., he was educated in local schools. Once he completed his education at Gardner High School, Mr. Keresey proudly served in the United States Army during the Korean War. Following his discharge, he was employed by the South Essex Sewerage District, (S.E.S.D) in Salem for many years, until his retirement.
His greatest joy in his life was his family. Mr. Keresey was a proud grandfather and great grandfather. He was also an avid golfer and dedicated Boston sports fan.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by three children, Kathleen Shaw of East Boston,, Anne Tyler of Danvers and Gary and his wife Margaret Keresey of Raymond, NH; a brother James Keresey and his wife Stella of Gardner, MA, a sister in law Blanche Keresey of Troy, ME; 8 grandchildren; five great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by a son, Retired U. S Airforce Mark Keresey and two brothers Charles and Edward Keresey.
His funeral will be held on Saturday, October 8, 2011 at 9:15 AM from the Murphy Funeral Home, 85 Federal St., (cor of North St) to be followed by a funeral Mass at 10:00 A.M in St James Church, 160 Federal St., Salem. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours will Friday from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM in the Funeral Home. Interment will be private in the Winchendon Veterans Cemetery.
