Henry G. "Butch" Boucher, age 86, husband of the late Shirley (Fay) Boucher, died at home Thursday morning, February 25, 2010.

A lifelong resident of Salem, he was also born in Salem the son of the late George and Alma (Petit) Boucher. After attending Salem Schools, Mr. Boucher was active with the Civil Conservation Corps (C.C.C). He later joined the merchant marine sailing aboard commercial ship for three years until the outbreak of World War II when he joined the United States Navy. A pharmacist mate, he had general hospital duties and was also a barber aboard troop transport ships.

Upon his discharge Butch established his custom home building, plastering and construction business in Salem and earned a well deserved reputation for high quality work.

Mr. Boucher loved being with his family and friends, taking care of his home and tending to his vegetable garden in the summer. He had been active with the Paralyzed Veteran's America (P.V.A) and was a member of the A.O.H Division 18 in Salem.

Mr. Boucher is survived by five sons, Paul Boucher, Dean Boucher and his wife Cookie , Jeff Boucher, Keith Boucher and his wife Pam and David Boucher and his wife Kathleen all of Salem; two daughters Leslie Boucher of Gloucester and Nancy Quintin and her husband Eric of Raynham; a sister Betty Bishop of Salem; 11 grandchildren James, Christina, Leah, Amanda, Brittney, Andrew, Alexandria, Jordan, Chandler, Shay and Luke and many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by a daughter in law Susan Boucher and two sisters Ida Laroche and Emma Brusso.

His funeral services will be held on Tuesday, March 2, 2010 at 7:00 P.M. in the Murphy Funeral Home, 85 Federal St., (cor of North ST) Salem. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visitation will be Tuesday, before the funeral services from 4:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. Interment will be private. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to the Plummer Home for Boys, 37 Winter Island Rd., Salem, MA 01970.
