Obituary

Helen J. (Tarnowski) Jiadosz, age 91, of CareOne at Essex Park, Beverly, MA died peacefully in her sleep surrounded by her family on Thursday June 7 th ,  2018, at the Kaplan Family Hospice House, Danvers, MA.  Helen was born and raised in Salem, MA where she raised her own family. A 1944 graduate of Salem High School, Helen was an employee of the Crayola Co., North Shore Acoustics and the City of Salem where she served in various positions including at the School Dept, Park and Rec, Fire Dept, retiring from the Water Dept as the Assistant Water Registrar.

Helen was a devoted volunteer in the community including as a Girl Scout Leader and Vice President of Camp Naumkeag. She was a valuable member of St. Thomas the Apostle Church serving as a Lector. Helen shared the gift of her beautiful singing voice as a member of the Choir.

Kind and compassionate, Helen had a love for animals including her many cats and dogs over the years. She enjoyed her travels that took her to Ireland, England, South America, Martha's Vineyard, Colorado and escaping to Florida during the winter.  Creatively talented, Helen was an artist who enjoyed water color and oil painting, as well as crocheting and knitting.  Helen was an adoring and loving mother and grandmother who cherished time with her family.  She was a witty and kindhearted friend to many. She enjoyed her weekly excursions with her best friends exploring various cuisines throughout the area, including Salem Willows chop suey sandwiches and fresh local lobster rolls.

Helen was predeceased by her husband, Joseph F. Jiadosz, her stepdaughter Marlene C. Jiadosz, her fiance Henry Mazurczyk and her sister Sophia Grasso.  She is survived by her children, Joanne H. Rust and her husband Raymond of Salem, Judith A. Johnson and her husband David of Reading and her stepdaughter Elaine S. Brasseur and her husband Donald of North Andover.  Adoring grandmother of  Lauren and Christine Johnson, Don Michael Brasseur, Beverly Savoy, and several great grandchildren.  Dear sister of Alice St. Pierre of Danvers, Linda Barr of Beverly and Joe Tarnowski of Salem.  Also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Her family would like to thank CareOne at Essex Park of Beverly, who provided exceptional care during her 4 ½ year stay and also the compassionate staff of the Kaplan Family Hospice House.

Helen 's visiting hours will be held at the Murphy Funeral Home, 85 Federal St. (corner of North St.), Salem on Friday,  June 8, 2018 from 6 to 8 P.M.  Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Thomas the Apostle Church,  1 Margin St., Peabody, 9 AM on Saturday June 9, 2018. Burial at Greenlawn Cemetery, 57 Orne St. Salem. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend.
