Helen M. (Ellard) Cappuccio, age 76, wife of the late George Leo Cappuccio of Salem died Tuesday morning in the Grosvenor Park Nursing Home, Salem.
Born, raised and educated in Salem the daughter of the late Denis and Margaret (O'Brien) Ellard, she had attended St. James Grammar school and was graduated from St James High School.
Once she completed her education at Burdette Business School for bookkeeping, Mrs. Cappuccio was employed by Pilgrim Trust (later known as State St). Mrs. Cappuccio also worked several years at the Sylvania Credit Union and had retired from the City of Salem Park Department.
An avid reader she had been extremely active in St James Parish activities, most notably their annual fair and weekly bingo games.
She is survived by her brother and sisters Margaret (Peggy) Harte of Rochester, NH, John Ellard and his wife Natalie of Gloucester; and Mary Danforth and her husband William of Beverly; many nieces and nephews and her close friends Geraldine Castonguay of Salem and Katherine Keohane of Danvers.
She was predeceased by a brother Dennis Ellard.
Her funeral will be held on Saturday, November 3, 2012 at 9:15 AM from the Murphy Funeral Home, 85 Federal St.(cor of North St) Salem, to be followed by a funeral Mass at 10:00 AM in St. James Church, 156 Federal St., Salem. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours will be on Friday in the Murphy Funeral Home from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Salem. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to the Sister's of Notre Dame, 30 Jeffries Neck Road, Ipswich, MA 01938.
