Gwenna A. (Matthews) Bergeron, age 88, wife of the late Kenneth Bergeron of Marblehead, died Monday evening at North Shore Medical Center, Salem after being stricken at home.

Born in Lynn the daughter of the late Leroy and Gladys (White) Matthews, she was raised in Marblehead and graduated from Marblehead High School.

Mrs. Bergeron grew up enjoying dance and ballet. For many years she worked in the ticket office of the Warwick Theater in Marblehead. A loving mother and grandmother, she enjoyed spending time with her family as well as sewing quilts and knitting afghans for family and friends.

She is survived by a son Robin Bergeron of Marblehead; a granddaughter Marisela Bergeron of Marblehead; three brothers James Matthews of Marblehead, Gene and his wife Debbie Matthews of Salem and Richard and his wife Cheri Matthews of Marblehead; a sister Sheila Matthews of Texas and many nieces and nephews.

Graveside funeral services will be held on Friday, April 15, 2011 at 1:00PM in Waterside Cemetery, West Shore Drive Marblehead under the direction of the Murphy Funeral Home, 85 Federal St., Salem. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to the North Shore Cancer Center, 102 Endicott Street
