BEVERLY - Grace Lillian Meyer, Aged 78 of Beverly passed away on Friday, April 10th, 2020 in her birthplace at Beverly Hospital while recovering from a recent injury and coronavirus. She had for the past few years resided in Gloucester.
Born Grace L. Cloyd in 1941 to musicians John Douglas Cloyd and Lillian Myrtle Wilson in Beverly, MA. She was dearly loved by her family. After Graduating from Beverly High School, Grace Married Edward R. Meyer jr. of Ipswich, Ma.
While raising 5 children Grace enjoyed spending summer months at camp in New Hampshire where her family often led campfire sing-alongs and musical skits. She always looked forward to attending concerts and family gatherings at Lynch park in Beverly.
She enjoyed playing the piano, having taught piano in Atlanta when her children were young. Her sense of humor and caring nature stayed with her until the end. She often enjoyed long drives in her car with her children where getting hopelessly lost was often part of the fun.
For several years Grace was employed with and retired from the internal revenue service as a payment tracer. Following her retirement Grace returned to college in her 60s. She was a member of Psi Chi, having received her Bachelor's Degree in psychology from Salem State at the age of 65. An accomplishment that made her family proud.
She had a fighting spirit and readily sacrificed for her children and charmed those around her with her sense of humor and big heart. She loved making people laugh. She kept her loved ones always in suspense of what she would be up to next. She was a loyal friend.
Grace leaves behind two 2 brothers. John Cloyd of Beverly and James Cloyd of Virginia.
Grace also leaves behind 4 children, Rachel Meyer of Ipswich, Michael Meyer of Beverly, Gary Meyer of Fort Myers, Florida and David Meyer of Cleveland Georgia, as well as 6 grandchildren, and 6 great grandchildren.
She is predeceased by both of her parents, her son Robert Meyer and her grandson Jacob Meyer
