Gloria Quigley, 86, formerly of Chelsea, and Marblehead,  Ma.  passed away peacefully on October 2, 20019.  Gloria was the daughter of George and Anne Innes and grew up in Chelsea attending Saint Rose School from kindergarten through high school, graduating in the class of 1951.  She continued her studies at Staley College earning a bachelor's degree in Speech and Education in 1956.  During her high school and college years she was very involved acting in local and Boston theater, as well as radio productions. Glo went on to teach special education for Saugus schools until she met and married Hugh Quigley in 1958 when she left teaching to start a family.  In 1965, with four children in tow, Gloria and Hugh moved to Marblehead Mass. where they eventually welcomed two more children and settled into life on the north shore.

She took a great deal of pride in her town, and loved being at the beach, or the yacht club, or sailing with Hugh and her children.  In the late 1970's Gloria went back to teaching and to graduate school at night, earning he master's degree in Education from Lesley College and returned to Chelsea to teach for the next few decades in the special education department in the public school system, retiring from Chelsea High School in 2000.  She returned to Marblehead and enjoyed attending daily Mass at Out Lady Star of the Sea, trekking around town in her walking club, and all of her longtime, loyal friends with whom she enjoyed everything from lectures at Hamilton Hall in Salem, to outings and luncheons and dinners, and regularly held court in Periwinkles in Vinnin Square for coffee and conversation with the ladies from Star of the Sea.  She was an avid reader, and an astute follower of politics, and those who know her will always remember her very informed and thoughtful discussions on these topics and many more current and relevant issues.  She traveled extensively in her golden years enjoying time in Monterey, California with her sons and granddaughter, as well as regular trips to Florida to stay with her daughter and granddaughter in Boca Raton.  She and her sister Maureen also realized their lifelong dream of touring Ireland, the homeland of their grandparents.
