Gertrude (Gert) Stanchfield, born November 5, 1919 to Joseph and Victorine (Chouinard) Chenard and was raised with her six sisters and brothers in the French Canadian neighborhood of Castle Hill in Salem. She attended St Ann's elementary school and graduated from Saint Critian's Academy High School. She married Kenneth (Kenny) M. Stanchfield (predeceased September 1996) on April 17, 1948 and raised her family in Salem.

Gert was devoted to her husband Kenny and dedicated her life to her family. She was an avid reader throughout her life until her recent decline in health and complications. Gert was one of a kind and will be missed by all.

She leaves her sons John and his wife Maria Tina of Marblehead, James and his wife Susan of Pasadena California and Peter and his wife JoAnne Puzo of Glastonbury, CT. Grandchildren Jan Surrette, Christopher Stanchfield, Thomas Stanchfield, Kelley Hoffman, Eric Stanchfield, Michael Stanchfield, David Stanchfield. Great grandchildren John Stanchfield, Mia Surette, Jayden Stanchfield, Ella Hoffman, and Anna Hoffman.

Her Funeral Services will be held at the Murphy Funeral Home, 85 Federal St, (cor of North St.) Salem on Saturday January 17, 2015 at 10:00 A.M. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 9:00 A.M. to 10:00 A.M. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Burial in St. Mary's Cemetery, Salem.
