Beverly….

Gregory A. Cahill, Sr. age 87 husband of the late Stacia (Kuzma) Cahill of Beverly died unexpectedly at home Tuesday afternoon.

Born in Salem the son of the late Daniel and Esther (Fitzpatrick) Cahill, he was raised in Salem. Mr. Cahill attended St. John's Grammar School in Peabody and was graduated from Salem High School in the late 1930's. He then began what would become a 47 year career with Parker Brothers Games in Salem.

During World War II he joined the United States Army serving in the 63rd Infantry Regiment, 6th Division in the Philippines. Following his honorable discharge in 1946 as a Platoon Sergeant, he returned to Parker Brothers until his retirement in 1985 as a shipping clerk.

A member of the American Legion Herman Spear Post 331 Mr. Cahill loved to travel to the French Quarter of New Orleans for their annual festival as well as during Halloween. Most of all, Mr. Cahill loved dancing with his wife.

An avid WW II history buff, he learned to enjoy the computer at the age of 80. Mr. Cahill had a heart of gold, loved his family and never missed sending a card or gift on special occasions.

He is survived by three children Gregory A. Cahill, Jr. and his wife Dianne of Beverly, Nancy A. Morgan and her husband Peter of Salem and Joyce M. Cahill of Beverly with whom he resided; six grandchildren Peter Cahill of Beverly, Stephen Cahill and his wife Paula of Danvers, Mark Cahill of Salem, NH, Annemarie Cahill of Beverly, Scott Morgan and his wife Theresa of Salem, and Stephen Morgan M.D. and his wife Jennifer of Peabody and, nine great grandchildren Krista, Stephen, Jack and Nolan Cahill, Sarah, Sean, Ella, Evan, and Keira Morgan; a sister Mary Jane Grealish of Florida and many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by three brothers, Daniel "Robert", Kenneth and David Cahill and four sisters Ruth Cahill, Dorothy Erwin, Natalie Tucker and Eileen Levesque.

His funeral will be held on Monday at 9:15 A.M. from the Murphy Funeral Home, 85 Federal St., (cor of North St) Salem to be followed by a funeral Mass at 10:00 A.M. in the Immaculate Conception Church, 15 Hawthorne Blvd. Salem. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours will be Sunday from 2:00P.M. to 6:00 P.M. in the funeral home. Interment will be in Puritan Lawn Memorial Park Peabody.
