Marblehead…….

Gerald H. Schwartz, 70, of Marblehead, formerly of Salem, died at home
Thursday morning after a long battle with cancer.

Gerry was born to the late Abraham and Emily (Cutler) Schwartz on
March 24, 1941 and grew up in Revere. He graduated from Huntington
Prep, and received his Bachelor's Degree from Suffolk University in
Social Work. Gerry spent the last 22 years with his best friend and
life partner, Eila (Harrington) Zay.

Gerry loved people, food and conversation and spent much of his time
tending bar. He started working as a bartender in his family's
restaurant, Cutler's Café in Chelsea. Once he moved to Salem, he found
a home at In a Pig's Eye, where he stayed for more than 20 years.

Gerry collected many friends over the years, and even more jokes.
More than anything, he loved cooking for his friends and family while
listening to music. A loving father and grandfather, he enjoyed
going to the beach, and taking vacations.

Gerry is survived by his loving partner Eila Zay of Danvers; devoted
daughter Bethany and her husband Louis Porrazzo of Marblehead; his
caring sister Karen and her husband Arthur Feinberg of Andover; two
wonderful grandchildren Emily and Jack Porrazzo of Marblehead; and
nephew Jeffrey Feinberg of New Jersey.

A Celebration of his life will be held on Sunday January 8th, 2012 at
2:30 PM in the Murphy Funeral Home, 85 Federal St. (cor. of North St.)
Salem. Family and friends are invited to continue celebrating his life from 4:00PM to 7:00 PM at the Hawthorne Hotel,18 Washington Square W, Salem, MA 01970 Salem. Relatives and
friends are respectfully invited to attend.
