Obituary

George Lampropoulos, 94 years, passed away on August 23, 2019 after a brief illness and a broken heart.  He now joins his beloved wife Gloria Lampropoulos, and beloved daughter Gail Lampropoulos, who both passed away in March of this year.

George was born in Somerville, MA to the late Charles and Katina Lampropoulos.

Brother to Demetrious (Pauline) Lampropoulos, Betsy (George) Carras, and the late Chris Lampropoulos.

Beloved father to daughters, Diane (Roger) Morin, Jeanne (John) Fontaine, Judith Lombard, the late Anne Turcotte, son, Robert Blanchette, & partner Melissa Snook.

George was Papou to 9 Grandchildren, Melanie, Brian, Mark, Craig, Desiree, Jamie, Haley, Jason, & the late Jennifer Morin, 2 Step Grandchildren, Dan & Michelle, 13 Great Grandchildren, & 6 Step Great Grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Having resided in Lynn for many years, George was a former parishioner of St. George's Greek Orthodox Church.  George attended and enjoyed many Greek festivals wherever he resided, including receiving an Outstanding Service Award from the Greek Orthodox Church in Laconia,N.H. George & Gloria moved to Danvers, where he was employed by ADT Alarm Company for many years prior to retiring at the age of 62. He then became co-owner of the Salem Trolley Company.  A few years later he and his beloved wife Gloria relocated to Bonita Springs, Fl. Where they enjoyed an active lifestyle.  George was especially faithful to his daily exercise routine in the pool.

He was an active member of the Bonita Springs Elks Lodge, where he also served as past Exalted Ruler.  He was an avid fan of the Boston Red Sox including attending spring training games in Ft. Myers.

George served in the U.S. Navy and was a veteran of World War II.  He recently participated in the "Honor Flight" to Washington, D.C., where he and fellow veterans were recognized for their service and enjoyed touring all the Washington Monuments including Arlington National Cemetery.  This was a special day for him, he was so proud, felt honored. It truly was one of the highlights of his life.

George enjoyed being a Papou and gatherings with family and friends.  He will be truly missed.

Visiting Hours will be held Saturday, September 21 from 10 AM to 11 AM at the Murphy Funeral Home located at 85 Federal Street, in Salem. A funeral service will immediately follow the visiting hours at 11 AM and will also be held at the Murphy Funeral Home. Burial will take place the same day, at Greenlawn Cemetery, located at 57 Orne St, in Salem. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the American Cancer Society, 3 Speen St, Framingham, MA 01701, or the Anne Turcotte Memorial Scholarship Fund, c/o of Desiree Wynott, 184 Maple St., Danvers, MA   01923.
