Obituary
Frederick Harry Erwin Sr., (Sonny), 85, formerly of Salem, MA and resided in Florida with his wife of 50 years, Sonny passed away at the James A. Haley VA Hospital on August 12, 2015.
He served in the Korean War and then met and married his loving and supportive wife Leona on September 12, 1964. They opened their own business, Sonny's Auto Body and Towing and raised a family. After 35 years he retired and in 2003 moved to Florida with his wife.
Sonny enjoyed going to Bush Gardens and to all the local auctions and loved to be with his family and friends.
Sonny was a beloved Husband, Father, Grandfather, Uncle and friend to all that knew him.
He is survived by his son Frederick (Fred) Jr. (Christene), daughters Judy Erwin (Scott Carroll), Cathy Doran, Cheryl Brown (Howard), Gail Wanstall, 5 grandchildren Kayla Erwin, Matthew Doran, Kimberly Doran, Krista Marchand, Ashley Wanstall, 5 great grandchildren Yanni Hantstoplous, Mariah Doran, Anthony Doran, Sirena Doran, 2 great-great grandchildren Maylee Martinez and Savannah Marchand.
Visiting hours will take place on Thursday May 19, 2016 from 4 to 7PM at the Murphy Funeral Home 85 Federal St. (corner of North St.) Salem, MA 01970. An additional hour of visitation will take place on Friday May 20, 2016 followed immediately by a graveside service at 12:30PM at Central Cemetery Butman Street Beverly, MA 01915.
