Frank D. Vona, 73, of Swampscott, loving partner of Marilyn Jarvis, died on Thursday, May 23, 2013 at Northshore Medical Center, Salem.

Frank was the dedicated and loving father of two sons, Mark Vona, of Beverly and Jeffery Bentz of Swampscott. Frank relished his time spent teaching his son, Mark, how to fish; a hobby they enjoyed to partake in together. Frank lit up with pride when he spoke of Mark's fishing success and could readily pull out a photo of an impressive catch. Frank dedicated his second chance at fatherhood to nurturing and developing strong values in Jeffery. Frank's legacy is that he was a great father to the boys. Frank, Jeffery, and Marilyn lead an active life in the Swampscott community.

Frank was the son of the late Frank S. and Marion (Tine) Vona. He was born and educated in Lawrence. After graduating from Lawrence High, and Lowell Technical Institute, he embarked on a career in aircraft engineering with General Electric. Frank traveled throughout the world, retired with more than 30 years of service to GE, and was a member of the Quarter Century Club.

As an avid golfer, Frank was particular about his game. He was an active member and friend to many at Meadow Brook Golf Club in Reading.

A Celebration of Frank's life will be held on Friday, May 31, 2013 at The Boston Yacht Club, 1 Front Street, Marblehead, MA from 11:30 am to 3:30 pm. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited.
