Francis J. Ganey, age 82, husband of Shirley (Pierce) (Dionne) Ganey of Danvers, died in the Cedar Glen Nursing Home, early Friday morning, May 4, 2012.

Born in Salem the son of the late John J. and Mary C. (Reilly) Ganey, he attended St James Grammar School and was graduated from Salem High School. He then attended Burdette College and served in the United States Army.

A former employee of the HP Hood Milk Co, Mr. Ganey was employed for 30 years as a clerk at Salem Post Office until retiring and working as a Crossing Guard for the Town of Danvers for several years

A dedicated Boston sports fan he was a passionate Red Sox, Patriot and Celtics fan who also enjoyed watching the Bruins. His greatest passion was being with his loving wife and going out ballroom dancing. He also enjoyed travel, watching TV and a friendly cribbage game.

He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Shirley and her four children, Mark Dionne of Danvers, Kathleen Dionne and her husband Guy and their two children Christopher and Roger of Beverly, Roger Dionne and his wife Denise of Breckenridge, CA, and Paul and Sydnie Dionne of Soquel, CA; a sister in law Menrnoush Bakshandeh of Saugus and two brothers in law George Pierce of Hollis Center, ME and Richard Pierce of Tampa, FL and several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by a brother John "Sonny" Ganey, his sister, Mary Ganey and a nephew Jason Hardy.

His funeral will be held on Tuesday, May 8, 2012 at 10:00 AM in the Murphy Funeral Home, 85 Federal ST (cor of North ST) Salem). Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours will be on Monday from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Interment will be in Walnut Grove Cemetery, Danvers.
