Francis L. "Frank" "Pa" Curtin, age 74, husband of Wendellyn "Wendy" (Wells) Curtin of Salem died on Thursday, August 29, 2013 at Grosvenor Park Nursing Home in Salem, surrounded by family.


Born in Salem the son of the late Francis L. and Helen (Ayers) Curtin, he attended both the Phillips School and St. Mary's School in Salem. He then graduated from St. John's Prep and attended Merrimack College.

As a young man his first job was with the former Joy Town Amusement Park in Topsfield where he met his wife of 50 years, a neighbor and frequent visitor to the attractions. A ten year stint at Vincent Potato Chips was followed by 25 years of employment at Maynard Plastics. Frank spent the final ten years of his career working for the City of Salem. In his spare time, he enjoyed walking, golfing, fishing, and laughing with friends and family.


In addition to his wife he is survived by four children, Francis L. Curtin and his wife Nancy of Salem, Lisa A. McGrath and her husband Kevin of Georgetown, Christopher M. Curtin of Salem and Brian W. Curtin and his wife Jennifer of Hampstead, NH.; A brother Patrick H. Curtin, D.D.S and his wife Helen of Salem; a sister Helen Harris of Seattle, WA; nine grandchildren Sean, Fred, Marisa, Joe, Rachel, Caeley, Michael, Brian and Jack and many nieces and nephews.


A Celebration of his Life will be held on Saturday, September 7, 2013 at 11:00 AM in the Murphy Funeral Home, 85 Federal St, Salem. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Interment will be private. Visiting hours will be on Friday evening from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM and on Saturday prior to services from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM.
