Mrs. Frances Mary (Nykiel) Conlon, beloved wife of the late Francis M. Conlon passed away at the Rosewood Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Peabody on Monday, December 14, 2015. She was born on March 17, 1924 to Frank and Mary Nykiel in North Brookfield, MA. She is survived by her sons, Robert F. and his wife, Patricia E. of Beverly and James M. Conlon and Patricia Kelly of West Peabody, MA. She is also survived by a granddaughter Erin and her husband, Ryan Davison and her two great grandchildren. She is also survived by her many nieces and nephews who loved her dearly.
She grew up in North Brookfield until her marriage and moved to Salem, MA. She was an executive secretary to the vice president at GTE Sylvania for many years before her retirement. She and her husband, Fran enjoyed going to Roanoke, VA for his Army reunions, and Ireland. They also spent a lot of time at her hometown of North Brookfield with her nieces and their families. They summered every year to Cape Cod where they enjoyed swimming, families and simply being together. They enjoyed their time with their nieces, Maura, Cate, Meg, Nancy, Susan, Mary-Lou and Mary Elizabeth when they came out to visit. They enjoyed their retirement by growing vegetables and flowers and swimming at Forest River with their friends from Gallows hill.
She is predeceased by her brothers, Emil, Walter, Theodore and Anthony Nykiel.
We wish to thank the staff at Rosewood Nursing Home and Care Dimensions for their loving, and gracious care of Franny as she was known to them.
Her Funeral will be held from the Murphy Funeral Home, 85 Federal St., (cor of North St.) Salem on Monday December 21st at 9AM followed by a Funeral Mass at St. James Church 156 Federal St. Salem, MA at 10AM. Calling hours will be held at the Funeral Home on Sunday, December 20th from 2 to 5pm. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Burial to follow in St. Mary Cemetery, Salem. In lieu of flowers the family would like to ask that contributions be made to the Care Dimensions 75 Sylvan St., Danvers, MA 01923.
