Salem, MA – Frances A. Carson, age 75, passed away May 9, 2019 surrounded by family after many years of struggling with COPD.  Born and raised in Salem, she was the daughter of the late Francis and Esther (O'Neill) Doran, and grew up on the corner of Liberty St. and Hawthorne Blvd.  After graduating from Salem High School, Frances attended CNA training through Shaughnessy Rehab hospital and worked as a CNA at many healthcare facilities.  She married Paul R. Carson, who was killed in action serving his country in Vietnam.    In her later life she found her true life partner in Joseph Ranno, and when Joe passed away in 2007, part of Frances passed with him.

Frances absolutely loved playing BINGO and would play at multiple events in a day if it was possible.  She enjoyed arts and crafts, flowers, and playing cards with friends.  She had a very large and special place in her heart for animals, especially dogs and birds.  She was a person who was loyal to family above all else, and loved her family dearly.  Her door was always open for friends and family, both literally and figuratively.  She was also a past president of the Salem Housing Authority Tenant Association.

Frances is survived by: her daughter; Catherine Doran, her grandchildren; Kimberly and Matthew Doran, her great-grandchildren; Mariah, Anthony and Sirena Doran and Yianni Hantzopoulos; her great-great-granddaughter, Maylee Martinez, her siblings; Michelle and James Doran; as well as many nieces, nephews and a large extended family of friends.  She was predeceased by her siblings; Joan, Jacqueline and Michael Doran.

A Mass will be held in celebration of Frances life on Saturday, May 18, 2019 at 10 AM at the Immaculate Conception Church, 15 Hawthorne BLVD, Salem, MA 01970; all guests are invited to gather directly at church.
