IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Fernando M.
"Fred" Sabogal
February 10, 1956 – April 2, 2014
Peabody - Fernando 'Fred" Sabogal, 58 of Peabody died April 2, 2014 at NSMC-Salem Hospital due to complications resulting from an asthma attack at his home on Monday March 24, 2014.
Fred was born February 10, 1956 in Bogota, Columbia to Guillermo Sabogal and Maria Erminda Alayon, and later immigrated with his family to the city of Belmont in 1969, graduating from Belmont High School in 1974 and receiving a B.S. in Business Management from Newbury College in 2001. He married Suzanne Sabogal in 1981 and, following the birth of his son Brian in 1984, they moved to Peabody in 1988 and birthed a second child, his daughter Jaclyn, in 1994.
Fred spent much of his career with an eclectic group of employers, including positions with Filene's Basement, the Peabody School Department as a substitute teacher and most recently, at Allied Barton Securities. He was an avid sports fan, having played baseball and soccer at an elite level as a youth, and maintained this passion throughout his life, shown best through his status as a New England Patriots season ticket holder for over 20 years. Fred was also a great fan of music, having a particular fondness for oldies music from the 50's and 60's. Above all else, Fred was devoted to his children and his grandson Mason, believing them to be his greatest accomplishments, never failing to mention his pride over Jaclyn's scholarship to attend UConn or Brian's care of his son Mason, with the time spent with Mason being one of his greatest joys over the past several years.
In addition to his children, grandson and mother, he is survived by his ex-wife and dear friend, Suzanne Sabogal of Peabody, his sister and brother in-law, Clara and Mark O'Neill of Shrewsbury, his brother and sister in-law, Rudy and Nancy Sabogal of Gloucester, and numerous extended family members and friends.
ARRANGEMENTS: Family and friends are kindly invited to gather for a celebration of Fred's life to be held Saturday April 5, 2014 from 3 to 7 p.m. at 29 Nancy Ave Peabody. The family has requested that in lieu of flowers, that donations be made in Fred's memory to the Boston Children's Hospital through the Children's Miracle Network Hospitals Charity .
