Reverend Father Peter F. Brudzynski passed away and returned to God on Saturday, December 9, 2017; he was 91. He was born in Salem, MA in September 1926 to parents Wladyslaw and Wladyslawa Brudzynski. Peter was ordained in May of 1950 soon after graduating high school. He later enlisted in the Navy and traveled the world as a Naval Chaplain before retiring a Captain and settling in western Florida in the early 1980s
A beloved member of the community, Fr. Peter was deeply involved in the Archdiocese of Venice, where he assisted at the Epiphany Cathedral from 1981-2008. He remained active in the church community he loved as long as he could. In his retirement he especially enjoyed blessing the fleet of the Venice Yacht Club each year, spending holidays with the Carmelites and reminiscing with friends and family.
To all who new him, perhaps the greatest quality he was able to bestow on us was the love and friendship he made you feel. Whether he was setting up an impromptu tiki bar for his fellow service men while stationed in Hawaii, using his sharp wit in cracking a joke, or driving around with the top down in the red convertible - Fr. Pete, as he was known to his family, was always quick to make us all smile.
Fr. Pete is preceded in death by his siblings Alfred, Eugene, Eddie, Wanda and Genevieve, as well as his late nephews Boleya Lojko and Edwin P. Lojko M.D.
Fr. Pete is survived by his niece Kathleen Monaco, great-nieces Erin Cavazos and Tara Risoldi, great-great nephews Destin Cavazos and Alec Cavazos and great-great niece Madeline Risoldi.
Burial Services will be held at
10 a.m.
Saturday December 23rd
at St. Mary's Cemetery in Salem, Massachusetts. Arrangements are by Murphy's Funeral Home in Salem.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Archdiocese or your favorite charity, especially to help those impacted by the recent hurricanes.
