Evelyn A. Simpson (92) passed away peacefully on Thursday September 14, 2017 at Rosewood Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Peabody, Massachusetts where she had resided the past five years.
Evelyn was born and raised, in New Brunswick, Canada to her parents Luella and Walter Biggar, in 1925. She was trained as a teacher and briefly taught elementary school in New Brunswick. She later married Robert B. Simpson and began to raise a family while working on a dairy farm in Massachusetts. They moved to the farm on Peth Road in Braintree Vermont in 1950.
While working on the farm and being a fulltime mother, she went back to school at Goddard College. She then taught children at Head Start in Randolph, VT. She continued her professional career working in Gifford Memorial Hospital in the Admitting Department in Randolph, VT before retiring.
She was an active member of the Bethany Church and the Eastern Star. Evelyn was an avid reader, knitter and crossword puzzle fan.
She is survived by her daughter Judith Schneider and husband Dale of Middleton, MA; son Robert and wife Tay Simpson of Braintree, VT; son Gary and wife Denise Simpson of Braintree, VT; son David and wife Elaine Simpson of Uxbridge, MA; her sister Ruby Latendresse of New Market, ONT. She is also survived by 11 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. She is predeceased by her four brothers Andrew, Leslie, Stanley, and Allen.
ARRANGEMENTS: Funeral services will be held at the Bethany Church, located on 32 Main St. Randolph, VT 05060 at 11:00 AM, Friday September 22. Interment will follow at the East Braintree Cemetery.
