Eugenia (Jean) Zisson died peacefully on August 3, 2014, at Grosvenor Park Nursing Center.
Jean was born in 1922 in Marlborough, Massachusetts, the daughter of Peter and Lillian (Pervanas) Zisson. She attended Marlborough High School and Northeastern University, moving to Salem with her family in 1941.
While working full time at GTE /Sylvania, she was caretaker of her parents during their long and difficult illnesses. At the time of her retirement from GTE/ Sylvania, she was the administrative assistant to the Vice President of Engineering. A devoted member of the St. Vasilios Greek Church in Peabody, she served as secretary of the philanthropic organization Daughters of Penelope for many years.
Jean was a wonderful cook and especially known for her Greek specialties. She enjoyed travelling with friends and doting on her beloved nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.
Her brothers Stephen Zisson of Salem and James Zisson of Lexington and Centerville predeceased her. Surviving her are six nieces and nephews: James Zisson of Marblehead, Stephen Zisson of Wenham, Paula Z. Connor of Easton, Claire Z. Cramer of Portland, Maine, Jami Z. Giovanopolous of New York City, Peter Zisson of Oakland, Tennessee, as well as many grandnieces and grandnephews.
Graveside Funeral Services will be held on Sunday, September 21, 2014 at 3:00 P.M. at Greenlawn Cemetery. Visiting hours will be held prior to the service at the Murphy Funeral Home, 85 Federal St., (cor of North St.) Salem, from 1:00 P.M. to 2:30 P.M.
