Eugenia H. "Jean" (Redding) Michallyszyn, R.N., age 70, loving wife for 49 years of Joseph Michallyszyn of Salem died Thursday morning in the Devereux House Nursing Home following a long illness.
Born in Rumford, ME, the daughter of the late Vernon and Gertrude (Bartlett) Redding, she was raised and educated in the Lewiston-Auburn area. Following her high school graduation n 1956, she entered the Salem Hospital School of Nursing where she received her Registered Nurse Degree in 1959.
Her 41 year career as a nurse began in the labor and delivery department of Salem Hospital and continued as a pediatric nurse at North Shore Children's Hospital until her retirement in 2000.
Mrs. Michallyszyn enjoyed being with her family, cooking, and entertaining. Her favorite event was the family's annual 3rd of July party. She and her husband enjoyed traveling to Aruba, boating, fishing, camping and flying their private plane from Beverly Airport. She had been a longtime and active parishioner of St. John the Baptist Church, Peabody for many years until becoming ill.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by three children, Kevin Michallyszyn and his wife Diane Kelly of Exeter, NH, Steven Michallyszyn and his fiancée Xiomara Liriano of Lakeland, FL and Laurie Sahagian and her husband Attorney Neal Sahagian of Hamilton; and four grandchildren Nicole, Katelyn, Grant and Rye.
Her funeral will be held on Tuesday at 10:15 A.M. from the Murphy Funeral Home, 85 Federal St. (corner of North ST) Salem to be followed by a funeral Mass at 11:00 A.M. in St. John the Baptist Church, 17 Chestnut St., Peabody, MA 01960. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours will be Monday from 4:00 to 8:00 P.M. Interment will be in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Peabody.
