Danvers….
Formerly of Salem, Eugene Victory, age 84, died Thursday morning, March 8, 2012 at Radius Healthcare of Danvers. He was born in Boston, son of the late Bernard C. and Ruth (Howard) Victory. He was raised and educated in Salem. Mr. Victory entered the United States Army Air Corp in 1945 and served his country during WWII.
Upon returning from the War, Mr. Victory settled back in Salem. He started his company, E. Victory Trucking, in Peabody, which he operated for over 60 years. He enjoyed doing the rigging and moving heavy equipment. He was an avid railroad enthusiast and was a member of the Boston Street Railway Association. He also belonged to the AMVETS and was a Free Mason and was a member of Star King Lodge A.F + A.M. of Salem.
Surviving him is one brother, Peter T. Victory and his wife Cynthia of Salem, his close friend Michael Markos and his wife Stephanie of Braintree; one niece and five nephews. He was also the brother of the late Bernard C. Victory, Jr.
Mr. Victory's funeral will be from the Murphy Funeral Home, 85 Federal St., (cor of North St) Salem on Monday at 9:15 a.m. followed by a Funeral Mass at St. James Church, 156 Federal St., Salem at 10:00 a.m. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours will be held on Sunday from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Internment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Lynn.
