Ena Barbara Manninen, 83, of Salem passed away on Sunday, March 29, 2020 at Rosewood Nursing Home after a brief illness. She was the wife of the late Richard E. Manninen.
Born in Salem, Ena was the daughter of the late John and Doris (Hanson) Cohane. She was raised and educated in Salem and was a graduate of Salem High School, Class of 1954. Early in her career, Ena worked for New England Telephone and then took time off to raise her four children. Later in her life, Ena worked as a Medical Records Clerk at Salem Hospital and then volunteered as a switchboard operator at Salem City Hall.
Ena's greatest joy was spending time with her children and their families, whether it was attending summer cookouts, birthday parties or holiday celebrations. She also loved attending "Cousin's Lunch" and "Breakfast Club" with her girlfriends. She was a kind and generous soul who was loved by all her knew her.
Ena is survived by her two sons, Richard Manninen and his wife, Janice and Erik Manninen and his wife, Julie. She is also survived by her two daughters, Tracy Clothey and her husband, Glenn, and Lindsey Chicarello and her husband, Scott. She was lovingly known as "Grammy" to Jack, Scott Jr., and her "best friend," Ella Grace.
Ena is also survived by her two brothers, William Cohane and his wife, Barbara, and George Cohane and his wife, Catherine. She also leaves many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Due to the Covid-19 virus and the current safety restrictions, Ena's family was not able to be with her during her final days and they ask that in lieu of flowers or donations that you honor Ena's memory by always loving and cherishing those close to you.
