Emile C. Pelletier, age 86, loving husband of Joan M. (Ford) Pelletier died at home Tuesday, January 1, 2008.

Born in Salem the son of the late Odias and Delia (Turgeon) Pelletier, he was raised and educated in Salem schools. Following his graduation from Salem High School, Mr. Pelletier served in the United States Army Air Corps during World War II. While serving in the Army Air Corps he was stationed in England where he met his beloved Joan. They enjoyed 62 years of marriage.

Following his discharge, Mr. Pelletier became employed as a machinist by General Electric in Lynn for many years.

In addition to his wife, Mr. Pelletier is survived by eight children, Barbara Cottle and her husband William of The Village, FL, Arlene McCourt and her partner Frank Brooks of Hanson, Janice Pray of Peabody, Deborah Dyke and her husband Gary of Newburyport, David Pelletier and his wife Elaine of Pensacola, FL, Denise Mills and her husband Timothy of Mansfield, Lisa Branco and her husband Kenneth of Easton, and James Pelletier and his wife Susan of Pensacola, FL; a brother Armand Pelletier of Salem; 14 grandchildren; one great grandchild and many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by three brothers Jean Paul, Roger and Maurice Pelletier; a sister Irene Higgins and a grandson Michael L'Hereux.

Emile will be missed by his 8 children; 14 grandchildren and his great granddaughter.

His funeral will be held on Saturday, January 5, 2008 at 1:00 P.M. in the Murphy Funeral Home, 85 Federal St., (cor of North St) Salem. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visitation will be immediately before the funeral Saturday from 11:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, the family wishes that donations be made to Hospice of the North Shore, 10 Elm St., Danvers Ma. 01923, who made it possible for Emile to be cared for in his home where he died peacefully in his sleep.
