Obituary

Elizabeth Ann ( Linn) (Griffiths) Ayers, age 82, of Boxford, MA, formerly of Chinchilla, PA and Fort Wayne, IN, wife of the late Wilfred Ayers, died Friday February 27, 2009 in Danvers, MA. She was preceded in death by her first husband Robert Griffiths, a brother Joe Linn, and four uncles Harold, Herbert, Byron and Oscar Linn.


Born Sept 5, 1926 in Indianapolis, IN she was the daughter of the late Warner Ray (Robert) and Elizabeth (Salmon) Linn and stepmother Loretta Ankenbruck Linn. She graduated from Central Catholic High School in 1943 and later moved to Pennsylvania in 1948 with her first husband where they began their family. Before her retirement, Beth was the office manager for Scranton Fabric Center, where she was employed for over 30 years.


She was an active member of the V.F.W. Women's Auxiliary Post 7069 in Clarks Summit, PA and the American Legion Auxiliary Post 47 in Fort Wayne IN for many years. Beth returned to Indiana and became employed by Crossroads Flowers in Fort Wayne and also volunteered at the Parkview Hospital gift shop. More recently, since moving to Boxford, she joined the Boxford Council on Aging where she thoroughly enjoyed her weekly luncheons and new friends.


Surviving are a daughter, Carol Griffiths of Boxford, with whom she had resided, and son, David Griffiths and his wife Linda of Homosassa, FL; a brother Robert Linn of Indianapolis, IN; a sister Mary Blanche Schmieman, of Fort Wayne, IN; two grandchildren Scott and Jason Griffiths both of MA; three great grandchildren Brendan, Conor, and Shane Griffiths, as well as cousins, nieces and nephews.


A memorial service will be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, those who wish may make memorial contributions to the St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Pl, Memphis, TN 38105 or a Hospice of their choice.
