Obituary
Eleanor M (Walsh) Morey,age 89, daughter of the late Charles and Margaret (Trainor) Walsh, died on
Sept. 4.
Eleanor was a graduate of Saint James Girls High in Salem,Framingham State College,where she earned her B.S in Dietetics and Boston College,with a Master's degree in Education.She began her career with the Veterans Administration as a Dietitian. She worked at VA hospitals across the country for 38 years and retired as the Director of Food and Nutrition Services for the Veteran's Administration.
"Aunt Cissie",as she was known to her large extended family,had little interest in material things and an abiding interest in the welfare of those she loved,particularly family members who might be experiencing a time of need. Eleanor had a wide and diverse circle of friends in and from all corners of the globe and from all segments of our society.She was an enthusiastic world traveler. One of her
great regrets was that the infirmities of age restricted her mobility and thus her access to her far-flung friends.
Eleanor is survived by her sister Marjorie Reynolds,brothers Charles (Ben) Walsh and his wife Joyce, John Walsh and his wife Evelyn and Brendan Walsh and his wife Kay and her Sister-In-Law Edie Walsh as well as many nieces and nephews. She was pre-deceased by her sister Angela Doyle and two brothers,Donald and James Walsh.
Her funeral will be held on Saturday, September 12 at 8:30AM followed by a funeral Mass at the Immaculate Conception Church,Hawthorne Blvd Salem MA at 10:30 AM. Visiting hours will be prior to the funeral from 8:30AM to 10:00 AM in the Murphy Funeral Home 85 Federal Street Salem. Interment will be private.
The Walsh family wishes to thank the administration and staff of Sunrise Assisted Living in Peabody for their superb efforts in seeing to Eleanor's needs over the last 10 months.
Eleanor has asked that people please not send flowers. She requested that friends wishing to remember her please send a donation in her name to Salem Children's Charity, C/O Witchcraft Heights
School, 1 Frederick Street, Salem MA 01970.
