Eleanor A (Scullin) Watt, age 97, wife of the late Howard Watt, died Wednesday morning, January 14, 2015 at the Bertram House of Swampscott. She was born in Salem, daughter of the late William J. and Lydia F. (Standley) Scullin. She was raised and educated in Salem having graduated from Salem Classical School. She continued her education at Burdette College in Lynn.
Mrs. Watt started her career with HP Hood in Charlestown. She would later meet her husband Howard while working weekends at Hoods Cherry Hill Farm Creamery in Beverly. They were married in St. Thomas Church. After some years away to start a family, she returned to working at various administrative positions including Harwood Counter Co on Jefferson Avenue in Salem.
Mrs. Watt was very interested in genealogy, and clothes making. She enjoyed arts and crafts, playing the piano and violin, and had a very nice singing voice. She also enjoyed growing African violets. She was an avid crossword puzzle solver. She volunteered with the Girl Scouts and Brownies and was a member of the Daughters of Scotia.
Surviving her is her son, Norman H. Watt and his partner Judith Cummings of Weymouth and her grandson Dr. Andrew Watt, and his wife Hilary, her nephew, Robert Quadros and his wife Patricia of Salem and niece Elizabeth and husband Paul Haley of Cape Cod, Mr. George Watt and Ms. Linda Marineau and families of Barre Vt., MS Joan Newton of Northbridge, Ms. Shirley Wandland of Groton, and Ms. Sharyn Gibson of CA. Numerous great nephews and nieces. She was also the sister of the late William J. Scullin, Jr, Janice Quadros and Jean Scullin.
Her Funeral Mass will be held at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, 2 Margin St., Peabody on Saturday January 31, 2015 at 1:00 P.M. Visiting hours at the Murphy Funeral Home 85 Federal St., (cor of North St.) Salem prior to Mass from 10:00 A.M. to 12:15 P.M. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Burial in Harmony Grove Cemetery, Salem.
