Salem……
Eleanor M (Busteed) Gowell, age 95, wife of the late Willard W. Gowell of Salem died in the Lafayette Nursing Home, Tuesday evening.
A lifelong resident of Salem, she was born in Salem the daughter of the late Robert and Mary A. (Lyons) Busteed. She was graduated from Salem High School in the Class of 1929 and became employed at Merchant's National Bank, now Sovereign Bank until becoming employed at the Danvers National Bank. Later she was employed by Daniel Lowe's in Salem for several years until her retirement.
Mrs. Gowell was proud of her heritage and her grandfather's military service during the Civil War. She was also an avid and dedicated Red Sox fan.
Mrs. Gowell is survived by a niece Salem City Treasurer Anne L. Busteed of Salem and a nephew Robert and his wife Joanne Busteed III and their daughter Margaret all of Salem.
She was predeceased by a brother Robert Busteed and a sister Louise Busteed.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend a memorial Mass on Friday, September 14, at 10:00 A.M. in St. Thomas the Apostle Church (on the Salem Peabody Line).
