Obituary

Eileen M. (Atkins) Kendall, age 80 died early Friday morning at the Brigham Manor Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Newburyport, MA, after a long illness.

Born and raised in Marblehead, she was a direct descendant of Sir Roger Conant and the daughter of the late Harold and Eva (St. Armand) Atkins. She was a graduate of Marblehead High School.

For several years Eileen was employed by the New England Telephone and Telegraph Company in Marblehead until the office became obsolete when dial services came into use. She was then employed in the Salem office as an Operator Services Assistant. She subsequently transferred to the Bell South facility in Florida where she retired in 1983 after 26 1/2 years of service.
Eileen will always be remembered for her love and devotion to animals, especially the many strays she nurtured and saved throughout the years.
She also loved the outdoors, whether it was tending to her beautiful gardens, going for scenic rides, feeding the birds, or enjoying a day at the beach.
Her other interests included shopping with her daughter and granddaughter and oil painting.

Eileen will be missed dearly but remembered most for her devoted love for her family, especially the two joys of her life - great gandsons Logan and Cooper.
She is survived by a daughter Cheryl and her husband Brian Terry of Hampton, NH, a granddaughter April and her husband Jae Guttadauro of NH, two great grandchildren, Logan and Cooper, as well as several nieces and nephews, cousins, and a wonderful friend, Priscilla Stocker.

She was predeceased by her beloved son, Brian A. Kendall, her former late husband, Al Kendall, and her brother Harold Atkins Jr.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend her funeral which will be held on Saturday, January 24, 2009 at 10:30 A.M. in the Murphy Funeral Home, 85 Federal St (cor of North St) Salem. Visitation will be Saturday morning before the funeral from 9:30 A.M. to 10:30 A.M. Interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Salem.
