Edward F. "Binkey" Morgani, age 76 loving husband for 56 years of Dolores (Richard) Morgani, of Salem, died Friday afternoon in Beverly Hospital, surrounded by his family.
A lifelong resident of Salem, he was born, raised and educated in Salem the son of the late Edward J and Isabelle (Lanzolotti) Morgani. While a student in the Salem Vocational School, Mr. Morgani joined a reserve branch known as Naval 1 and continued serving in the Navy Seabees Reserve for 32 years until being discharged. Mr. Morgani completed his education and professional training at both Wentworth Institute and the Lynn Trade School and became the Head of Facilities at Gordon Cromwell Seminary in Beverly for over 10 years.
He then was employed by the Salem Beverly Water Board managing pumping stations for many years until his retirement. Mr. Morgani was a past President and longtime, active member of the Christopher Columbus Society in Salem. A dedicated husband and father he loved his family, Sunday dinners and vacations to Florida.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by three children Cheryl and her husband Frank Romano of Beverly, Edward J and his wife Christine Morgani of Marblehead and Lisa and her husband Ronald Lessard; six grandchildren, Amy and Michael Romano, Racheael Roque, Eric Morgani, Chad and Andrew Lessard and one great grandchild David Roque and many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by a sister Anita Abbondanza.
His funeral will be held on Tuesday, October 26, 2010 at 9:00 A.M in the Murphy Funeral Home, 85 Federal St., (cor of North St) Salem. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours will be Monday from 4:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. in the funeral home. Interment will be private. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to the American Lung Association
