Edward W. Mace (82) of Salem passed away peacefully with his family by his side after a long battle with illness on the evening of Wednesday January 9, 2019 at the Kaplan Family Hospice House.

Edward was born and raised in Marblehead by his parents Samuel Mace and Laura (Emerton) Mace. Edward attended Marblehead Schools, but before his graduation enlisted in the Navy in 1953. After his discharge, he went onto work at Harvard as a janitor before he met his first wife Linda while he was roller skating, which was one of his passions.

Edward and Linda later got married and started their family. They moved to South Carolina and Edward became a correctional officer, where he was honored as Officer of the Year in 1990. After his first wife, Linda, passed away he met his lifelong companion Sally on a trip back to Marblehead. Edward moved back to Massachusetts and spent the rest of his life with Sally and the rest of his family.

Edward had a passion for coin collecting, as his collection had a timeline dating further back than anyone could imagine. Edward will be remembered as a devoted father and companion. He will be greatly missed by all he encountered.

Edward is survived by: his lifelong companion Sally Doane; his daughter Melissa Lynch and her husband Jeff; his grandchildren Edward, Jack, Jeffery, and Jessica Lynch; his great grandchildren Faith and Rose Lynch, Isabella restrepo, Asa Tabares, and Ana Pena; his brother Alan Mace; his nephews Alan Mace Jr and Robert Mace; and his great niece Abby Mace. He is also loved and cared by Cheryl and Terry Raustad, Timothy and Patty Doane, Elisabeth and James Jezowski, and Lisa and Scott Faulkner. Edward is predeceased by his wife Linda and his sister Doris Torrey.
