Edward "Ed" C. Fleming age 80, husband of Susan J. (Callahan) Fleming of Lynn died June 14, 2012 in the Kaplan Family Hospice House, Danvers following a courageous battle with lung cancer.
Born in New York, NY the son of the late Patrick and Matilda (Burke) Fleming he was a graduate of Cardinal Hayes High School and received his Bachelor's Degree from Columbia University. For many years he owned and operated Pitcher Pack in Woburn. He later became employed as the Vice President of Product Development and Placement for St. Regis Bemis while also staying active in Commercial Real Estate.
A good friend of Bill W., he was an active member in the Church of St. Andrew in Marblehead. He also was a devoted volunteer with Hospice of the North Shore and Greater Boston for 14 years. In addition to being with his family, his favorite pastimes included tennis (which he played at Northeast Tennis) squash, sailing and going to the Marblehead Swampscott YMCA. For the past 14 years he has been an active volunteer with Hospice of the North Shore.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children Stephanie Bernier. Siobhan O'Hair, Sara Mauser, Hazel Durand, Jack Grenham and Jim Grenham; many grandchildren and several nieces and nephews, and he was the brother of Patricia Troisi and Regina Reinhold . He was predeceased by a brother Jack Fleming and a sister Madeline Murphy.
His funeral will be held on Friday, June 22, 2012 at 11:00 AM in the Church of St. Andrew, Lafayette St., Marblehead, MA 01945. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours will be on Thursday from 4:00PM to 8:00 PM in the Murphy Funeral Home, 85 Federal St., (cor of North ST) Salem. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend.. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Kaplan Family Hospice House, c/o Hospice of the North Shore and Greater Boston, 75 Sylvan St., Suite B-102 Danvers, MA 01923.
