Beverly….
Edith W. Lobao, age 77, died Saturday, February 16, 2008 at her home in Beverly surrounded by her family. Born and raised in Salem, she was the daughter of the late John and Mary (Grimes) Connolly.
Mrs. Lobao raised her family in Danvers and Salem before moving to Newburyport where she resided for 30 years. More recently she returned to the Salem/Beverly area three years ago to reside with her daughter and family.
She worked in the nursing field for many years and had been employed by Hunt Memorial Hospital in Danvers as well as Anna Jaques Hospital and Port Manor in Newburyport.
Edith was quite talented and creative. She enjoyed knitting, counted cross stitching, and oil painting. At one time, she owned a ceramic studio in her home where she held classes for children and adults. She loved people and had an abundance of friends. She was forever sending greetings cards, Mass cards and well wishes to friends and family. A devoted mother, grandmother, and great grandmother and friend, her religious faith was an inspiration to others. She was an active member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Newburyport for many years.
She is survived by a son and daughter in law James and Pat Lobao of Salem, a daughter and son in law Kathy and Rene Aubertin of Beverly, a sister and brother in law Ruth and Lewis Story of Ipswich, six grandchildren James, Samantha, and Robert Lobao of Salem, Kimberly D'Entremont of Raymond, NH, Erica Bailey of Beverly, and Darcy Bailey-Smith of Odenton, MD. She leaves seven great grandchildren. She also leaves many nieces and nephews, as well as two especially dear friends Alicia Basti and Joanne Boover both of Newburyport.
She was predeceased by her son, Andrew Lobao.
Her funeral will be held on Wednesday at 8:15 A.M. from the Murphy Funeral Home, 85 Federal St., Salem, MA. 01970 to be followed by funeral services at 9:00 A.M. in ST. Peter's Episcopal Church, 24 St. Peter St., Salem. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours will be Tuesday from 4 to 8 P.M. Interment will be private.
