Ducilia (Mello) Jay, age 81, wife of the late Stanley Jay, Sr., died in the Kaplan Family Hospice House, Danvers early Thursday morning.
She was born in Albany, NY the daughter of the late Dominico and Maria (Marques) Mello and was raised in Portugal until the age of 10. Her family then settled in South Peabody where they had many friends from both Salem and Peabody. A loving wife, Mrs. Jay was dedicated to her family.
She is survived by a daughter Donna Hall and her husband Phillip of Peabody; four grandchildren Donna Davis Camp, Kenneth Jay Davis, Lynne Marie Jay and Christopher LeBoeuf; six great grandchildren, Caitlyn, Jacqueline, Melina, Dustin, Dylan, and Leah Rose; and, many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by two sons Stanley Jay, Jr. and Mark John Jay.
Her funeral will be held on Tuesday at 10:15 A.M. from the Murphy Funeral Home, 85 Federal St. (cor of North St) Salem to be followed by a funeral Mass at 11:00 A.M. in St. James Church 161 Federal St., Salem. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours will be Monday from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Salem.
