Salem……
Dorothy A. (Frye) O'Brien age 86, wife of the late Louis J. O'Brien, of Salem, died suddenly April 8, 2013 at the North Shore Medical Center, surrounded by her family. Born in Salem, she was the daughter of the late Arthur and Alice ( Jalbert ) Frye.After her graduation from Salem High School, Mrs. O'Brien was employed by M.H. Baker Clothing Store, in downtown Salem.
After World War II she married her high school sweetheart, and began a family. As time allowed, Mrs. O'Brien worked for the City of Salem conducting census reports and working the election polls in Ward 5. As a stay at home mom, she loved her family, gardening and being active in the Immaculate Conception Church. For many years, she and her husband ran the parish "500" Club and she also bowled in the Immaculate Conception Church Bowling League. They loved to go dancing and were also frequently seen walking around their neighborhood or visiting Winter Island on a warm summer day or evening.
Mrs. O'Brien is survived by two daughters, Donna Bakoian of Lynn, Carleen Brosnan and her husband Barry of Salem and a son Shawn O'Brien and his wife Patricia of Salem; 6 grandchildren Robert Bouchard, Heather McClain, Daniel Bakoian, Dale Bakoian, Jason Bakoian and Nolan O'Brien. She was also pre-deceased by her brother Richard Frye of Florida and her sister Maryanne Blanchette of Byfield, Ma. She will also be missed by relatives, neighbors, friends and staff members of the JRC/Aviv Center.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend visiting hours on Monday, April 15, 2013 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM in the Murphy Funeral Home, 85 Federal St, Salem, Ma. Funeral services will be private. In lieu of flowers, those who wish to make a memorial contribution, it may be made to the Plummer Home for Boys, 37 Winter Island Rd, Salem, MA 01970, JRC/Aviv Center, 240 Lynnfield Street, Peabody, Ma. 01960 or to any charity of your liking in Dorothy's name.
