Dorothy Marguerite Fitzgerald (née Waldron) died peacefully on Mother's Day, May 12, 2024. Dorothy was born in Medford, MA November 26, 1927, the eldest daughter of Irish immigrants Marion and Michael Waldron.  She graduated from St. Clement's School and went on to be the first person in her family to earn her bachelor's degree from Regis College.

Dorothy began her career at Liberty Mutual Insurance in Boston. In 1950, she married Dr. Robert P. Fitzgerald. After multiple moves for the US Navy Dental Corps, they settled in Needham, MA where they built "Bob's" dental practice and raised their five children. Dorothy was an active member of St. Bartholemew and St. Joseph parishes. In 1990, Dorothy and Bob retired to Dennis, MA and enjoyed time playing golf, participating in church activities, supporting their children, grandchildren, and longtime friends. In 1992, Dorothy lost her beloved husband of 42 years.

In 2000, Dorothy married Nicholas Bachynski, a retired engineer and longtime friend and neighbor. Residing in Dennis, MA and then Yarmouth Port they enjoyed good health, traveling, and spending time with their children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Dorothy was also an avid golfer and a member of Dennis Niners.

Dorothy is survived by her children, Karen Fitzgerald of Swampscott, MA, her daughter-in-law Betsey Fitzgerald of Centerville, David Fitzgerald (Martha) of Bluffton, South Carolina, Annemarie McMahon (Brian) of Sarasota FL, and Margaret McQuillan (Thomas) of Cotuit, MA. She is survived by her grandchildren Meghan Monaco (Christopher), Katherine Barrett (Henry), Molly Climo (Justin), Sam Fitzgerald, Leigh Brown (Steve), Patrick McMahon, Nicholas McMahon, Thomas McQuillan, Sean McQuillan, Michael McQuillan (Alyssa), and 6 great grandchildren, Michael, Angus, Madison, Finnian, Sean, and Robert. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews, and three stepchildren, seven step grandchildren, and three step great grandchildren.

Dorothy is predeceased by Dr. Robert Fitzgerald, her beloved husband, her brother James Waldron, her brother Reverend Robert Waldron, her son Michael Fitzgerald, her grandson Michael McMahon, and Nicholas Bachynski, her second husband of twenty- three years.

A visitation will be held at St. Joseph's Church, 118 High Street, in Medford on Monday June 3, 2024, from 10:30 AM - 11:30 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at 11:30 AM at the church.
