Marblehead
Doris M. (Stratton) Vigneron, age 87, wife of the late John F. Vigneron, died Saturday, January 10, 2015 at Putnam Farm at Danvers. Born in Cambridge, she was the daughter of the late Arthur and Mary (McNamara) Stratton. She attended Cambridge Public Schools and graduated from Cambridge Rindge and Latin High School. She continued her education at Chamberlin Secretarial School. Following graduation, she started her working career at Cambridge City Hall as the Mayor's Secretary. Following her marriage to John, they moved to Marblehead where they raised their family. Mrs. Vigneron continued her working career in Marblehead as the office manager in the town's Water Department for many years.
Mrs. Vigneron was very involved with the girls hockey program. She was the coach of Marblehead's first girls youth hockey team and went on to become an assistant coach for the Marblehead High School Girls Varsity Hockey Team.
Doris'greatest joy was her family. She could often be seen cheering her grandchildren on at lacrosse, hockey, baseball, softball and soccer games. She also enjoyed watching their plays and concerts. She loved her family and was very dedicated to them all.
She is survived by her three children, David Vigneron and his wife Jodi, John Vigneron and his wife Dee, all of Marblehead, Paula Fitzgerald and her husband James of Hingham, her seven grandchildren Kevin, Christine, Connor, Caitlin, John, Will and Paige, and great-grandson Charlie. She was also the sister of the late Maryann Gosch.
Her funeral will be held from the Murphy Funeral Home, 85 Federal St., (corner of North St.) Salem on Wednesday January 14, 2015 at 9:15 A.M. followed by a Funeral Mass at Our Lady Star of the Sea Church, 80 Atlantic Ave, Marblehead at 10:00 a.m. Visiting hours will be held at Murphy Funeral Home on Tuesday from 4:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend.
