Doris M. Murtagh, 92, beloved wife of John W. Murtagh, passed away peacefully on Friday March 27, 2020 at the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers.

Born in Melrose, she was the daughter of the late Donald B.  and Florence M. (Sims) Henderson.  She was a graduate of Melrose High and received her diploma from the School for Nursery Nurses at North Shore Babies Hospital in 1947.

On July 13, 1957, she married the love of her life, John, and began raising her family.  A longtime resident of Salem, she enjoyed trips to Foxwoods/Mohegan Sun, playing Bingo and watching the Red Sox and Patriots. Doris will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.  She was affectionately known as Nannie to her family.

In addition to her husband with whom she shared 62 years of marriage, she is survived by  three sons, Dennis and his wife Kathy of Salem,  John and his wife Debbie of Peabody, and Thomas and his wife Chrissy of Salem, her grandchildren Meghan, Dennis  and his wife Melissa, Thomas (TJ), Caitlyn and Cody Murtagh and great-grandson William P. Murtagh.

She was predeceased in death by her brother Edward Henderson and sister Barbara Hearn.

Due to current gathering restrictions her funeral services with will be private.
