Doris (Cyr) Buttner, age 93, of Salem, passed away on September 21,2025 in Marblehead. Mrs. Buttner was predeceased by her loving husband William L Buttner with whom she shared 66 years of marriage
Born in Salem on May 20,1932 to Omer and Mary (Cassidy) Cyr. Mrs. Buttner was educated at St. James Grammar school and High school in Salem. She was a devoted wife and mother. Mrs. Buttner loved working with children as a Paraprofessional in the Salem Schools for 27 years. The Buttner's enjoyed traveling. One of their most interesting trips was to Egypt and a cruise on the Nile River. Mrs. Buttner loved Boston sports, Red Socks, Celtics, but the Patriots were her favorite. Sunday family dinners were always held during halftime. Mrs. Buttner enjoyed word search puzzles and she was an avid reader passing that love on to her grandchildren. Mrs. Buttner enjoyed shopping with her grandchildren and each time ended up with fries and a chocolate shake.
Mrs. Buttner is survived by her four children, Joyce Mallard and her husband Ron Mallard of Marlborough Massachusetts, William Buttner of Salem, Kerri Rowand of Salem and Beth Kwapis and her husband David Kwapis of Salem. Doris is survived by nine grandchildren and nine great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews In addition to her husband William, she was predeceased by her three brothers Lawrence, Ralph, Karl (Mike) Cyr and a sister Mary Vanne.
A graveside service will be held on Saturday, October 4, 2025 at 10:30 am at Greenlawn Cemetery, Salem. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made in Bill and Doris' name to Care Dimensions, 75 Sylvan St, Suite B-102, Danvers Ma 01923. Arrangements are under the direction of Murphy Funeral Home, 85 Federal St, Salem.
