Doris Tuxbury Bartlett, age 101, wife of the late Charles Bartlett, a lifelong 'Header', died peacefully Monday afternoon, September 29, 2014, at the Devereux House in Marblehead. Born in Marblehead, the daughter of the late James and Mabel (Tuxbury) Devine she was educated in local schools and graduated from Marblehead High School.

Doris owned and operated the Bide-A-Wee in Marblehead where she was well known for her oatmeal bread. Oftentimes, while waiting for a seat to become available inside, patrons would sit outside on a bench socialize, and make new friends.

She is survived by her two daughters, Lee Bartlett Weed and her husband Barry Weed, and Susan Byors; and one brother James DeVine, Jr. all of Marblehead; four grandchildren, Richard Weed of Newton, Jason Byors of California, Justin Byors of Saugus and Brett Bartlett of Arizona and four great grandchildren, Taylor Prescott, Tucker Prescott, Catherine Weed and Molly Weed. She was predeceased by son Woodfin James Bartlett of Phoenix, sister Barbara Lunt of Danvers and granddaughter Elisabeth Prescott of Epping, NH.

Her Memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 18, 2014 at 11:00A.M at St Michaels Episcopal Church, 26 Pleasant St, Marblehead. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. At the family's request, there are no visiting hours and interment will be private. For those who wish, memorial contributions may be made to Marblehead Female Humane Society, P.O.
